Project Accountant | BKF Engineers

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at BKF Engineers, located primarily remotely with one day per week in the Oakland, CA office. BKF is a multi-service infrastructure consulting firm providing civil engineering, construction management, environmental, planning, and surveying services for a variety of clients across California and the Pacific Northwest. As a Project Accountant, you will play a vital part in the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and reliability in managing accounts and documentation crucial for client invoicing and project financial health. This role values professional autonomy, innovation, and meaningful collaboration.

• Mission: Ensure accuracy and reliability in managing accounts and documentation for client invoicing and project financial health.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Month-end closing processes and reconciliations.
• Prepare: Client invoices, reviewing drafts for appropriate labor and expense charges, ensuring accuracy with billing rates and ceilings, and making necessary changes and reclassifications.
• Assist: Project Managers in reviewing project costs by comparing budget versus actuals.
• Resolve: Client invoicing questions by conducting research and fulfilling client requests for invoice support documentation.
• Support: Project Managers with project setup and ongoing maintenance within the Deltek Vantagepoint system.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), strong mathematical aptitude, solid knowledge of Excel, attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, and the ability to interface with project managers, clients, and architects.
• Bonus: Experience in the Architecture or Engineering industry and experience with the Deltek Vantagepoint Accounting system.
