• Team: Supervises multiple Gas and Water Field Supervisors within the Water Utility Division of the Department of Public Utilities, reporting directly to senior management.
• Mission: Oversee and optimize the daily operations of field crews in a 24/7 environment, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high customer satisfaction for water and gas services.
• Tech Stack: FC300 Field Collection System, AMI, remote disconnect, GIS maps, smart water systems, advanced metering infrastructure
What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Supervise multiple Gas and Water Field Supervisors to ensure seamless 24/7 daily operations within the Water Utility Division.
• Customer Service & Efficiency: Improve customer service processes for timely and accurate billing and enhance meter reading efficiency and accuracy.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead and manage technical and management staff, conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
• Technology Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for smart water systems and advanced metering infrastructure technologies like AMI and remote disconnect.
• Strategic Support: Utilize data to develop dashboards and drive decision-making strategies, and serve as backup for senior management when needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, or a related field, with the ability to manage operations and technical staff.
• Experience: Four years of journey-level professional experience in a related area, including managing operations in a unionized work environment.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, problem-solving, critical thinking, knowledge of Gas/Water pipeline maintenance and repair, and familiarity with smart water systems or advanced metering infrastructure.
• Bonus: Ability to obtain an Operator’s Qualification (OQ) within 12 months, and a valid Driver’s License may be required for some assignments.
