The Tone:
This is a seasonal, full-time, temporary role at a mill in Elgin, OR, specifically designed for vacation relief. The company operates facilities focused on the production of veneer, a core component in various wood products. In this hands-on Production Mill Worker position, you will be an integral part of daily mill operations, directly contributing to maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring continuous production cycles. Your efforts will be crucial to the overall efficiency of the mill, performing a variety of essential tasks that support smooth operation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain: You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe mill environment. This critical task involves consistently sweeping and shoveling debris to prevent hazards and ensure the smooth flow of operations across the mill floor.
• Process: This role involves the very physical and repetitive task of pulling strips of veneer from a moving chain. You will then carefully stack these processed strips into carts, ensuring readiness for the next stage of production.
• Feed: You will accurately feed strips of veneer into the dryer. This is a highly repetitive but essential step in the production process, contributing directly to the quality and readiness of the final product.
• Relieve: You will gain experience across multiple areas of the mill by performing duties at various workstations. This flexibility is key to allowing other employees to receive their scheduled breaks throughout their shifts, ensuring uninterrupted workflow.
• Support: Beyond specific tasks, you will assist with a variety of other duties as needed. Your adaptable support is vital to ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of the mill, responding to immediate needs as they arise.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess the physical capability to safely perform continuous and demanding activities inherent to a mill environment. This includes sustained periods of standing and walking, alongside the ability to frequently lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above the shoulders throughout the workday.
• Experience: A core requirement is the physical capacity to occasionally lift weights exceeding fifty (50) pounds per normal workday, demonstrating the strength necessary for handling materials in the production process.
• Skills: Essential for this role is the flexibility and availability to work any assigned shift. This includes Days, Swing, Graveyard, and Relief shifts, reflecting the 24/7 nature of mill operations and the need for consistent staffing.
• Bonus: While not strictly required, candidates with prior production experience will be at an advantage. Additionally, a steady work history is preferred, indicating reliability and commitment to previous roles.
