Position Summary: Product Strategy Intern
The Product Strategy Intern will play a pivotal role in supporting Northwest Bank’s student-focused product strategy. This internship is an ideal opportunity for a student with a strong passion for financial services, customer experience, and human-centered product development. The intern will be instrumental in

  • Helping to shape go-to-market plans.
  • Gathering and analyzing student user insights.
  • Supporting the development of user personas.
  • Contributing to a product roadmap specifically designed to meet the evolving financial needs of students.

Working closely with product leaders, marketing, and commercial strategy teams, the intern will ensure that student voices are consistently represented throughout the product lifecycle. This ensures Northwest Bank’s solutions align effectively with user expectations, competitive trends, and institutional goals. This experience offers valuable real-world product experience, supported by the extensive knowledge and backing of Northwest Bank’s dedicated product team.

Key Responsibilities

  • User Research & Insights:
    • Help develop and refine student personas using qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Synthesize insights to highlight unmet needs, pain points, and opportunities for differentiation.
    • Ensure student perspectives are consistently represented in product decisions and experience design, supporting the creation and updates to customer journey maps to identify friction points and opportunities.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy:
    • Assist in developing go-to-market strategies and launch plans for student banking products.
    • Collaborate with marketing to refine messaging, channels, and outreach tactics.
  • Product Roadmap & Development:
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a student product roadmap that aligns with business goals and customer insights.
    • Help evaluate new product ideas, feature enhancements, and experience improvements.
    • Participate in cross-functional discussions around prioritization, business case inputs, and success metrics.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Product Management, Human-Centered Design, Finance, Data Analytics, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in product strategy, customer experience, or innovation within financial services.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to synthesize information and present insights clearly and concisely.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and exploring creative, user-centered solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); exposure to research or design tools is a plus.
