AARP Services, Inc., established in 1999, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AARP. It manages relationships with providers and oversees the quality of various products and services offered under the AARP brand to its millions of members. These offerings encompass health products, financial products (including Medicare supplemental insurance, credit cards, auto/home/mobile home/motorcycle insurance, life insurance, and annuities), travel and leisure (discounts on rentals, cruises, vacation packages, lodging), technology and gift offers, pharmacy services, and legal services. AARP Services also develops new products for AARP and provides consulting services to external companies.

Job Description: Product Development Intern

This paid internship within AARP’s Product Development (PD) team focuses on leveraging AI to enhance the team’s efficiency and capabilities. The internship, anticipated to begin Summer 2025, offers opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities:

• Gain a thorough understanding of the PD team’s objectives, processes, deliverables, and anticipated outcomes.
• Research and identify AI tools best suited to support the PD team in achieving its goals.
• Develop reusable prompts for each PD team capability, designed to be applied to various assignments.
• Take ownership of one or more PD assignments, focusing on identifying and/or executing product expansion opportunities for AARP members. These assignments will utilize the developed AI prompts as live use cases. The intern will deliver on the assignment and document lessons learned from using the AI tools.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment (and continued enrollment throughout the internship) in an accredited college or university as a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student.
• Pursuing a degree in business, data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
• Proficiency in AI platforms and tools.
• Experience with prompt engineering and integrating prompts for specific tasks.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Certifications related to AI or prompt engineering are preferred but not required.
• Self-starter, adaptable, and capable of working under tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate needs, and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

Compensation and Benefits:

• hourly rate: $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
• Interns are considered non-exempt employees and are not eligible for employee benefits.
