Vice President- Finance Process Excellence | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

This role is crucial for driving process excellence and efficiency within MUFG’s Bank and Securities Americas Finance operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements while aligning with global corporate objectives. It focuses on cost efficiencies and mitigating risks across all finance operations within the MGS bank and Securities entities.

• Mission: Develop, implement, and manage robust compliance processes and identify efficiency opportunities within MUFG’s bank and Securities finance, ensuring alignment with global corporate objectives, driving cost efficiencies, and mitigating risks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Expert Advice: Provide expert advice for process excellence across all Americas finance streams, including FP&A, Financial Accounting and reporting, Account Payable, Regulatory Reporting, SOX, Tax Product Control, and Budgeting.
• Process Optimization: Optimize financial tools and processes post-migration to drive automation and efficiency within the captive, aligning similar processes in the MGS entity.
• Integration Leadership: Lead the identification and execution of efficiency opportunities and integration between Bank and Securities Finance teams, including operating model design, functional alignment, and team integration.
• Process Redesign: Evaluate, redesign, and optimize end-to-end finance processes to improve efficiency, quality, control, scalability, and stakeholder experience.
• Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement a continuous improvement framework using Lean, Six Sigma, and best-practice methodologies.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or Chartered Accountant and relevant accounting qualifications, with experience in financial closing and reporting teams.
• Experience: 12-15 years working in financial closing and reporting teams in a Bank, Bank captive, or a big four accounting firm practice; proven experience in leading large-scale integration, restructuring, or operating model transformation within financial services.
• Skills: Deep understanding of the banking landscape, including regulatory requirements and products like Loans, guarantees, Trade Finance, cash equities or derivatives; proficiency in transition methodologies and managing cross-functional teams across different time zones to drive efficiency; strong background in accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting systems like SAP or Microsoft Dynamics; excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel/VBA, Word, and Access.
• Bonus: Preferably possesses a controls and governance focus; demonstrates a results-driven and proactive approach with strong accountability; ability to operate with urgency, sound judgment, and excellent attention to detail in a pressurized environment.
