Associate, Healthcare (SF based) | B Capital

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at B Capital, located in San Francisco, CA. B Capital is a global investment firm with approximately $10 billion in assets under management, focused on funding founders and businesses that use technology to shape the future across technology, healthcare, and resilience tech sectors. This Associate position is essential for the Healthcare AI Team, helping to drive the investment process from initial research and sourcing through to deal evaluation and portfolio company support, specifically within healthtech and digital health.

• Mission: Assist in the investment process for Series A to Growth Equity investments in healthtech and digital health, from identifying opportunities to supporting portfolio companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Develop market research and investment theses to guide sourcing efforts for new healthcare investment opportunities.
• Trend Analysis: Follow AI trends within the healthcare sector to inform investment strategies and identify potential areas of focus.
• Deal Evaluation: Evaluate and assess the viability of investment materials received from potential companies for their suitability.
• Due Diligence: Lead key pieces of diligence on investment opportunities and deal processes, including financial modeling, audit, tax, and legal aspects.
• Portfolio Support: Deliver high-touch support to portfolio companies across various operating areas and connect them with customer targets using the firm’s and BCG’s networks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An undergraduate degree in economics, data science, biology, biomedical engineering, engineering with biology, biochemistry, or other relevant fields is highly desired, with a background in finance.
• Experience: 1-3+ years of relevant work experience is strongly preferred, such as investment banking on a healthcare team or an operating role in finance or business development.
• Skills: Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, experience distilling ideas into clean, digestible formats, and detailed financial modeling, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, and quantitative market research.
• Bonus: Prior VC/PE investing experience, exposure to core venture capital “math” skills (e.g., cap table, returns modeling), and familiarity with standard venture terms and concepts are a plus.
