District Overview: Kiewit Power Market

The Kiewit Power Market specializes in providing direct-hire and construction services for Power Generation projects, leveraging both union and non-union craft forces. Our market constructs major EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) and bid-build natural gas power plants, solar fields, nuclear facilities, and energy storage systems across North America. Location

While our headquarters is situated in Lenexa, KS, our Power projects are distributed throughout the entire United States. Therefore, candidates must be prepared for extensive travel and relocation as business requirements dictate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a vibrant and diverse team on the construction, estimation, and scheduling of mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial systems.
  • Provide support for both administrative and construction activities as directed by your supervisor, which includes reviewing proposals/specifications and drawings, performing material takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and attending pre-bid investigation meetings.
  • Gain valuable experience in supervising subcontractors and effectively communicating with vendors.
  • Job duties will also encompass preparing detailed work plans, ensuring stringent quality control, managing and tracking costs and materials, scheduling equipment, administering comprehensive safety programs, and maintaining exceptional owner relations.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Possess broad knowledge and the ability to understand project scheduling and cost control principles, as well as proficiently read and interpret project owner specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with industry-specific software such as SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log, and/or Primavera “P6” is considered a significant advantage.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Display good attention to detail, coupled with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Possess a strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to go above and beyond to ensure tasks are completed correctly.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as an integral part of a team.
  • Be able to freely access all points of a construction site across a wide range of climates and environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and current federal & OSHA requirements is preferred.
  • The ability to travel and/or relocate as required is mandatory.
  • Possess reliable transportation to and from work sites.
