Job Description: Portfolio and Platform Lead (24-Month Limited-Term Position)
This role is central to managing the lifecycle of AI projects, from initial concept to large-scale implementation in LMICs. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between product development and operational deployment, ensuring projects are both technically sound and scalable. Key responsibilities include:
Portfolio and Product Management:
• Overseeing the complete lifecycle of AI projects, facilitating smooth transitions from concept to regional/national scale.
• Developing and implementing portfolio management frameworks to track project timelines, budgets, and milestones.
• Assessing project readiness for advancement to subsequent development phases.
• Identifying and resolving product bottlenecks.
• Ensuring the entire portfolio aligns with the overarching AI strategy.
Stakeholder Coordination and Strategy:
• Collaborating with AI teams, technical experts, grant managers, and external partners to align product strategies with organizational goals.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with governments, funders, and implementation partners to promote AI adoption.
• Creating effective strategies for introducing AI products, ensuring solutions are suitable for LMIC contexts.
Scaling and Resource Optimization:
• Identifying high-potential AI initiatives and guiding them through the maturity pipeline.
• Pinpointing barriers to scaling and ensuring products are linked with necessary technical and non-technical support and other AI workstreams.
• Recommending resource allocation strategies to maximize impact and efficiency.
• Streamlining investment decisions through data-driven analysis of AI project performance.
Deliverables:
• AI Project Roadmap, Timelines & Dashboards: A centralized system for tracking prioritized AI initiatives.
• Annual Portfolio Performance Report: A summary of progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
• Scaling Readiness Framework: A standardized approach for evaluating AI projects, ensuring key enablers (regulatory pathways, compute and data access, evaluation benchmarks) are met before each stage.
• Stakeholder Engagement Plan: A strategy for securing buy-in from key partners in LMICs.
Required Experience and Skills:
• Advanced degree in biotech/pharmaceutical/life sciences or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience managing AI, digital, or technology product portfolios, preferably in a commercial setting.
• Strong understanding of AI product development, evaluation, and adoption.
• Proven experience structuring and managing AI projects, tracking deliverables, and managing cross-functional teams.
• Ability to engage with governments, donors, and implementing partners to drive AI adoption; familiarity with tech firms.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing project performance and resource allocation.
• Familiarity with the challenges of scaling AI solutions in LMIC contexts is preferred.
Compensation: The salary range is $233,600.00 to $362,200.00 USD, with a higher range ($254,700.00 to $394,700.00 USD) for Seattle and Washington D.C. locations. Actual salary will depend on experience and skills. Relocation assistance is provided. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
