Policy Specialist, Power Markets – OKC, OK | Expand Energy

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Expand Energy, located in Oklahoma City, OK. Expand Energy focuses its operations on discovering and developing its large and geographically diverse resource base of unconventional oil and natural gas assets onshore in the United States. This senior-level position is crucial for evaluating policy and regulatory developments that directly impact the company’s strategy across various energy markets. What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitor: Analyze federal and state regulatory developments affecting downstream energy markets to identify impacts on the company.
• Advise: Inform internal teams on policy and regulatory risks, opportunities, and strategic implications for company operations.
• Support: Contribute to the creation and execution of advocacy strategies and policy positions for the organization.
• Engage: Represent company interests with regulatory agencies such as FERC, NERC, and state public utility commissions.
• Coordinate: Act as a liaison between upstream operational teams and power/utility-related stakeholders to ensure integrated solutions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. This is a senior-level position specializing in energy policy and regulatory affairs.
• Experience: Minimum: 8 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with direct experience in downstream markets such as utilities. Demonstrated experience interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies, particularly FERC, is required.
• Skills: Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced knowledge of trade and technical terminology, an understanding of oil and gas operations, and the ability to establish and maintain good relationships with governmental agencies. Advanced knowledge of laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, oil and gas law, permitting, and compliance requirements is essential.
• Bonus: Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field.
