The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Silgan Plastics, a company with over 50 years of experience defining the plastic bottling industry through technical innovation and creative packaging solutions. Silgan provides customized approaches to customer packaging needs, from creation to commercialization within a growing organization. The Plant Accountant will play a key part in supporting plant operations through accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis. This role partners directly with plant leadership and the Regional Controller to ensure robust financial practices and to identify ways to enhance profitability and efficiency.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Accounting Activities: Oversee the daily plant accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory, and Fixed Assets.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for plant operations.
• Cost Management: Maintain and update standard cost systems to ensure product costs are accurately captured and tracked.
• Performance Analysis: Support budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide plant performance and business decisions.
• Compliance & Controls: Track capital spending, support internal audits, ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and maintain strong internal controls at the plant level.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Core domain knowledge in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis, ideally within manufacturing or plant operations.
• Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience. Experience with financial systems, specifically Oracle or another ERP, is beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, lookups, and reporting), is required.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail; excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
