Job Description: Pharmacy Intern Permit

This position is for a Pharmacy Intern Permit holder within the Pharmacy department at Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH). The intern will fill orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and perform other related duties under the supervision and direction of a pharmacy supervisor or staff pharmacist.

Responsibilities:

• Assists pharmacist with preparing and dispensing medication.
• Mixes pharmaceutical preparations, fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepares labels for bottles.
• Fills medications orders for individual patients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Receives and stores incoming supplies.
• Counts stock and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records.
• Prepares intravenous (IV) medication using sterile technique under the supervision of hospital pharmacists.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an accredited (ACPE) College of Pharmacy, end of 3 year or above.
• 1 year hospital pharmacy setting preferred
