Personal Training Intern | Equinox Group

• Mission: To learn and apply personalized instruction and exercise programming to maximize member health, fitness, and wellness goals.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct in-depth weekly research into specific injuries, meticulously documenting their causes, observable signs and symptoms, recommended treatment protocols, effective rehabilitation exercises, and crucial prevention strategies to build a comprehensive understanding.
• Explore: Actively explore and familiarize oneself with the wide range of personal training specialties and available certifications, evaluating potential areas of interest for future professional development and career specialization.
• Design: Design comprehensive and individualized exercise programs for hypothetical clients, taking into account their specific personal training goals, any notable injuries, and athletic histories to provide tailored fitness solutions.
• Investigate: Thoroughly research prevalent health conditions such as Hypertension, Diabetes, Pregnancy, and Cardiovascular Disease, detailing their causes, physiological implications, the benefits of exercise on these conditions, and identifying both beneficial and contraindicated exercises.
• Review: Participate in regular weekly check-ins with a designated supervisor to review progress on established objectives, gain constructive feedback, and collaboratively plan actions and goals for the subsequent week, ensuring continuous learning and development.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Academic credit eligible undergraduate student with at least two years completed in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Personal Training, or a related field; demonstrating an outgoing and personable disposition, and a genuine passion for fitness and helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.
• Experience: Customer service orientation, coupled with a strong ability to understand or quickly grasp customer priorities and terminology within a service-oriented environment.
• Skills: Ability to effectively multi-task and manage various responsibilities efficiently; effective oral and written communication skills for clear interaction with members, trainers, and supervisors; results-oriented approach, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Bonus: Previous personal training experience is preferred, though not a mandatory requirement for this internship.
