The Tone:
This is a key financial support role at Soni, a growing organization. This position is responsible for the precise administration of payroll and meticulous handling of core accounting activities. The Staff Accountant will play a central part in ensuring accurate financial records and smooth operational processes, directly supporting both the organization’s employees and the Finance team. Success in this role requires a detail-oriented approach and professional, responsive communication to maintain financial integrity and employee trust within a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Payroll: Coordinate the semi-monthly payroll process for approximately 350–400 employees, which includes meticulously reviewing and processing all timekeeping information to ensure accuracy and timely disbursement.
• Resolve Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact and resource for both current and former employees, addressing all payroll-related questions, investigating discrepancies, and fulfilling various related requests promptly and professionally.
• Process Transactions: Accurately complete the recurring transfer of payroll activity data from People Strategy to Fund-EZ, and comprehensively review and record monthly corporate credit card activity, ensuring proper expense coding, collecting supporting documentation, and performing accurate system entry.
• Reconcile Accounts: Conduct thorough monthly bank reconciliations, actively investigate any differences between credit card records and accounting activity, research variances in all financial accounts, make appropriate corrections as needed, and diligently maintain all supporting documentation for audit readiness.
• Support Operations: Provide essential general administrative support to the Finance Department, encompassing tasks such as managing mail and deliveries, organizing filing systems, and addressing other operational needs, alongside assisting with various additional accounting and finance projects as assigned.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: At least one year of finance or accounting experience.
• Skills: Strong customer-service orientation, highly organized with the ability to maintain accurate records, exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-through, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace.
• Bonus: Experience in a nonprofit or educational organization, demonstrated discretion when handling confidential payroll and employee information, and the ability to work collaboratively to contribute to a culture centered on teamwork, inclusion, integrity, and positive engagement.
