Legal Research – Internship | Filevine

The TL;DR

• Mission: This person will apply their legal research training to review and validate data extracted by Filevine’s AI systems from published legal materials, identifying errors and refining automated outputs to improve the accuracy and capabilities of new AI-powered legal tools.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Read and analyze published judicial opinions across state and federal jurisdictions.
• Verification: Review outputs generated by AI systems and verify their accuracy against the source legal materials.
• Identification: Apply legal research training to identify errors, ambiguities, or edge cases in automated outputs.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with legal researchers and ML engineers to improve data quality over time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as a 2L or 3L at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law or BYU J. Reuben Clark Law School. Completion of at least the 1L curriculum, including legal research and writing.
• Experience: Enjoy reading and analyzing judicial opinions, statutes, and other legal authorities.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and familiarity with legal writing.
• Bonus: Interest in legal technology or AI.
