Park Operations Internship Program

Program Highlights & Responsibilities

- Hands-on Leadership: Gain first-hand knowledge and experience by working directly in the field in an operations leadership position.
- Supervisory Role: Oversee members of the Operations team in a supervisory capacity within one or more key departments: Ride Operations, Park Services, or Guest Experience.
- Leadership Engagement: Seize valuable opportunities to meet, engage, and learn directly from park leaders and management.
- Executive Shadowing: Gain insight by shadowing and interacting with park Directors and the Park President.
- Capstone Project: Participate in a “Capstone Presentation” focused on improving a specific aspect of the park/resort operation.
- Resort Learning: Learn from leaders at our affiliated hotel & indoor waterpark operation.
- Guest Safety & Experience:
- Provide guests with a safe and enjoyable ride experience.
- Entertain guests and help calm their nerves as they board our world-class thrill machines.
- Operate attractions by pushing buttons and pulling switches to launch them through the course.
- Ensure all safety measures are met: seatbelts are tight, loose items are secure, and lap bars are locked.
- Enforce rider restrictions and accurately measure for height requirements.
- Assist guests efficiently and cautiously in and out of ride vehicles and through the queue lines.
- Maintain cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of ride patios and midways.
- Emergency Response: Act as a first responder to ride emergencies and respond appropriately according to training.
- Team Management & Training:
- Ensure quality control of your assigned crew.
- Train and audit ride operators and attendants to uphold the highest level of safety standards.
- Create and implement effective break plans for team members.
- Ensure adequate staffing of all attractions within a designated zone or section of the park.
- Coordinate and perform comprehensive training, including department orientation and continuous on-the-job training, in accordance with Six Flags and Great Escape Resort Standards.
- Operational Support:
- Perform duties as a Team Member when necessary, including but not limited to operating rides, to support the team.
- Practice, support, maintain, and enforce a total safety culture for all Leads and Team Members.
- Assist other Team Members and Departments to support the resort as a whole.

What You Will Need (Qualifications)
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be currently pursuing a college degree or a recent graduate (within 180 days of the start of employment at Six Flags Great Escape).
- A team-player attitude and the willingness to step in wherever needed to support park operations or assist guests.
- Commitment to working through the 2026 summer operating season (mid-May through mid-August).
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, nights, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
- Ability and comfort working in an indoor and outdoor environment, enduring various weather conditions (rain, heat, winds, etc.).
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and reach throughout your shift.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of leadership principles and a strong willingness to learn and develop.
- A safety-first attitude is paramount.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
