Paralegal | Leidos

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Leidos, located in Washington, DC. Leidos is an industry and technology leader with 47,000 global employees and approximately $16.7 billion in annual revenues, serving government and commercial customers. This role provides legal and technical services to support a Department of Justice Division by assisting with electronic case filing workflows, allowing you to contribute to critical legal processes.

• Mission: Manages and processes electronic case filings to support Department of Justice attorneys.
• Tech Stack: Pacer, automated matters systems, case tracking system, LEXIS, Westlaw

What You’ll Actually Do
• Electronic Filings: Download electronic case filings (ECFs) from Pacer, upload them to automated matters systems, and enter filing information into a case tracking system.
• Attorney Support: Create and provide links to electronic case filings for DOJ attorneys, and respond to their requests for filing information and retrieval.
• Legal Document Preparation: Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for attorneys to use in discovery and in the preparation of motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Research and Data: Conduct simple to moderately complex database searches and perform simple legal research tasks.
• Trial Assistance: Index, track, and control document discovery, depositions, and trial materials, prepare exhibit cross-references, and assist attorneys in the courtroom.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a paralegal certificate, a Juris Doctor (JD), or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed. Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation for cite-checking legal motions and memorandums, is essential.
• Experience: At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience specifically related to electronic case filing workflows.
• Skills: Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw, excellent written and oral communication skills, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bonus: Trial experience, experience with automated litigation support, and prior work in a Federal Government environment.
