What You’ll Actually Do
• Organize: Review and organize complex factual material and other documentary data crucial for investigations and trials.
• Prepare: Draft a variety of substantive legal documents, including grand jury and trial subpoenas, extradition requests, and documentation for evidence and testimony.
• Manage: Develop, enter, and maintain various case materials within computer databases, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
• Visualize: Create charts, graphs, and tables to effectively illustrate results and findings for legal proceedings.
• Support: Provide comprehensive litigation case management, including preparing exhibits and jury instructions, and organizing cases for court presentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must possess either a Master’s or equivalent graduate degree, or two to three years of progressively higher-level graduate education, in a relevant field such as Law, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or Business Administration from an accredited institution.
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) full year of specialized paralegal or legal experience is required, equivalent to the GS-07 level for GS-09 applicants, or GS-09 level for GS-11 applicants, in the Federal service or private sector. This experience must demonstrate a foundational to practical knowledge of legal research, the ability to interpret legal decisions, and familiarity with the litigation and judicial process. Examples include examining and processing legal documents, conducting analytical data evaluation for complex requests, drafting legal briefs and pleadings, and using various filing systems for legal information.
• Skills: Proven capabilities in preparing a variety of substantive legal documents (e.g., extradition requests, subpoenas, interrogatories), performing efficient citation checking, developing and managing case material in computer databases, preparing charts, graphs, and visual exhibits for trials, and providing comprehensive litigation case management. Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational skills for complex factual and documentary data.
