The Tone:
This is a full-time, onsite role for a Paralegal located in Galesburg, IL, within the Law Offices of Scott T. Kamin. As a sole practitioner, the firm focuses on critical areas of criminal defense and civil rights, addressing fundamental legal protections and justice for individuals. This position is vital in supporting the practitioner’s ability to provide comprehensive legal services in these significant legal fields. Your contributions will directly facilitate the preparation of cases, interaction with clients, and overall organization, ensuring the smooth operation of a practice dedicated to upholding civil liberties and defending constitutional rights.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct: Perform thorough legal research to gather relevant case law, statutes, and legal precedents, directly supporting the attorney’s strategic development of arguments and legal theories.
• Prepare: Draft and meticulously edit various legal pleadings and motions, ensuring accuracy, proper legal formatting, and persuasive language for submission to courts and opposing counsel.
• Manage: Handle the client intake process, which involves initial contact, gathering essential background information, documenting case details, and setting up initial client files with professionalism and empathy.
• Organize: Systematically organize and maintain both physical and electronic legal files and documents, ensuring all materials are accurately categorized, readily accessible, and compliant with confidentiality protocols.
