Job Description: Optical Sensing Systems Intern
This internship is specifically designed for undergraduate or graduate students. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited program with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and June 2027. The internship will be with Rivian’s optical sensing systems team, focusing on validating ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) cameras for future Rivian vehicle programs.
Responsibilities:
• Modeling camera imaging systems: This includes modeling scene content, illumination, CMOS sensors, and camera lenses to support tolerance settings in camera lens and module manufacturing.
• Software tool development: Designing and developing software tools to aid in camera evaluation.
• Test protocol design and execution: Designing and executing test protocols for evaluating the image quality of ADAS cameras.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree at an accredited university.
• Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or a closely related field).
• Understanding of the fundamentals of optics and imaging sciences.
• Proficiency in Python or Matlab programming.
• Prior camera working experience (a plus).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Positive mental attitude and the ability to demonstrate patience, kindness, and self-control.
Compensation:
The hourly rate for this internship ranges from $25.00 to $51.00, depending on location and other legal factors. Rivian offers comprehensive wellness benefits and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouses/domestic partners, and children up to age 26, effective from the first day of employment.
