Job Summary: Make an Impact at SPX

As an Operations Systems Intern, you will become an integral part of our diverse team, gaining valuable hands-on experience and learning from industry experts. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant system improvements that will have a lasting impact on our business operations and efficiency. You will be instrumental in assisting with data cleansing and system enhancements within our ERP system, focusing on documenting a standardized parts classification process and improving system performance, reporting accuracy, and analytics capability.

Key Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations leaders to develop and document a standardized parts classification process.
    • Collect, assess, and improve data elements related to lead time and minimum order quantities.
    • Update and align part classifications for all parts in the IFS system to ensure data accuracy and labor efficiency.
    • Lead other projects as assigned, contributing to operational excellence.

What We Are Looking For

We seek an individual who brings a proactive approach and a strong aptitude for problem-solving.

Required Experience And Education:

  • Currently enrolled student working towards a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or Business Administration.
  • Candidates must have completed their second year of studies.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Demonstrated high problem-solving skills and self-direction.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US; company will not provide sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with IFS is a significant plus.
  • Technical hands-on experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exposure to time studies and layout design.

Travel & Working Environment

  • This role will primarily be within a manufacturing environment, frequently requiring the use of foot and eye protection when in production areas.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl as needed.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25lbs occasionally.
