Operations Management Trainee | Mountaire Farms
The Tone:
This is a full-time traineeship at Mountaire Farms, located in-person at our processing facilities. Mountaire Farms is a prominent company in the poultry processing industry, dedicated to producing high-quality products while maintaining operational excellence. This pivotal role is designed as a 26-week immersive experience, specifically crafted to develop future leaders who will drive efficiency, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across our core processing operations, directly contributing to our overall success and quality standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Rotational Learning: Participate in structured, hands-on rotations across critical processing departments, including Live Haul, First Processing, Second Processing, Debone, Tray Pack, and Shipping. This will be conducted under the direct guidance of a dedicated mentor, allowing for comprehensive exposure and an in-depth understanding of Mountaire Farms’ end-to-end plant operations.
• Operational Contribution: Apply practical problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address daily operational challenges encountered within each department. Learn directly from frontline leaders and your assigned mentor, actively contributing to enhancing production flow, implementing process improvements, ensuring stringent quality control, and optimizing yield.
• Performance & Development: Engage in a robust performance evaluation process at the conclusion of each rotation and complete thorough self-assessments. This process is designed to encourage deep reflection on learnings, clearly identify areas for personal growth, and establish clear, actionable goals for continuous professional improvement.
• Leadership & Team Building: Actively participate in three core development sessions, specifically designed to cultivate essential leadership competencies in accountability, communication, and collaboration. Additionally, engage in Early Talent team events to foster peer connections and build a strong professional network.
• Program Engagement: Consistently submit both weekly and monthly reports to program leaders, providing a detailed summary of key learnings, challenges faced, and questions arising from your departmental rotations. This ensures continuous engagement, visibility into your progress, and facilitates ongoing support throughout the program.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must possess an Associate or bachelor’s degree or a relevant trade certification. The specific area of study will be considered based on current business needs, typically aligning with operations management, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 0 – 2 years’ relevant professional experience. Internal candidates may also qualify if they have at least 2 years of service with Mountaire Farms, are in good standing with no disciplinary actions in the past 12 months, and secure a supervisor’s recommendation for program participation.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong work ethic and leadership potential; excellent communication and organizational skills crucial for coordinating tasks and interacting with diverse teams; proven ability to thrive and adapt in a demanding, hands-on work environment; and a genuine eagerness to learn, grow, and make significant contributions to team success.
