Job Description: Operations Management Associate

This is a training role designed to prepare individuals to become Plant Operations Supervisors after a 6-12 month program. The position focuses on providing a foundation in various operational aspects within Cargill’s fast-paced plants. The work is described as collaborative, passionate, and committed to feeding the world.

Responsibilities: This role will provide exposure to, and training in, many aspects of plant operations, including:

Operations: Core operational tasks and processes within the facility.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leadership: Understanding and implementing safety procedures and regulations.
Engineering/Maintenance: Learning about facility maintenance and upkeep.
Accounting: Exposure to financial aspects of plant operations.
Continuous Improvement: Participating in initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Human Resources/Talent Management/Employee Relations: Understanding personnel management and team dynamics.

The specific training path will be customizable based on individual interests and business needs.

Work Environment: The job is located in a plant setting and involves working in varying temperatures (hot, cold, wet) and conditions that may be messy at times. Work schedules will vary, including 8-10 hour shifts, occasional weekend work, and even 6-day weeks, depending on customer demand. The role is described as demanding but rewarding, contributing directly to Cargill’s mission of nourishing the world.

Job Locations: The position requires relocation and the potential locations are: Butler, WI; Columbus, NE; Dodge City, KS; Hazleton, PA; Lake Odessa, MI; Mason City, IA; North Kingstown, RI; Wyalusing, PA.

Qualifications:

Required: Currently pursuing or having completed (between May 2022 – Summer 2025) a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Associate’s degree (with relevant work experience), or having achieved E-4 rank (or higher) in the military, or having four years of relevant experience in operational, mechanical, and/or leadership roles. The ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, willingness to relocate, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and willingness to work varying shifts (including weekends) are also required. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
Preferred: Pursuing a degree in an agriculture or business-related field (including Animal Science, Ag-Economics, Ag-Business, Ag-Education, Agronomy, Food Science, Feed Science, Meat Science, Operations Management, Ag-Systems Management, Ag-Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanized Systems Management, or Industrial Distribution).

Compensation: The expected salary is $65,000 (unadjusted for geographic differential). A comprehensive benefits package is also offered, including medical and other benefits dependent on the position and hours worked.
