Job Description
The Boring Company is a fast-paced organization focused on revolutionizing transportation. They value “ownership,” meaning interns are given significant responsibility, essentially acting as regular employees on their projects. The work environment is described as fast-paced, with everyone working collaboratively toward a common goal.
The internship offers several team placements:
• Business/Project Development (Part-Time) (Bastrop & Vegas): Interns will support project development by identifying, tracking, and pursuing project leads. This involves assisting with proposal preparation and creating marketing materials.
• Purchasing (Bastrop & Vegas): This role provides hands-on experience in analyzing supplier and spend data, communicating directly with suppliers, purchasing goods and services (both direct and indirect), and supporting projects such as developing and implementing new processes.
• Accounting & Finance (Part-Time) (Bastrop Only): Interns will assist with invoice processing, daily transaction reconciliation, and the monthly close process (Accounting). Finance-related tasks include supporting budget tracking and management, and performing spend analysis to generate insights.
• Operations (Bastrop & Vegas): Interns will act as a liaison between management and team members, communicating scheduling and coordination matters related to ongoing construction and facilities projects.
• Corporate Affairs (Vegas Only): This role involves conducting research on various business and legal issues and supporting the entire deal-making process, from structuring the business model to contract negotiation.
Basic Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled in or have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Preferred Skills and Experience: While not mandatory, preferred candidates will possess experience in engineering, logistics, construction, real estate, or business development. Experience supporting a team in a fast-paced startup environment is highly valued. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), superior organizational abilities, problem-solving initiative, independent work ethic, enthusiasm, and the ability to manage multiple projects autonomously are all highly desirable traits. The ability to act urgently and communicate frequently and clearly is also emphasized.
