What We Look For In a Trigonometry Tutor

• Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of trigonometric functions (sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, cotangent), unit circle, radian and degree measures, trigonometric identities, inverse functions, and graphing transformations. Ability to explain the law of sines, law of cosines, double-angle and half-angle formulas while preparing students for calculus and engineering applications.
• Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at breaking down periodic function behavior, amplitude, period, and phase shift concepts. Guides students through right triangle trigonometry, oblique triangle problems, identity verification, and trigonometric equation solving. Emphasizes visual understanding using unit circle and wave patterns, connecting to physics and signal processing.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with trigonometry curricula and common struggles including memorizing identities, graphing transformations, and applying formulas correctly. Adapts instruction using mnemonic devices (SOHCAHTOA), visual circle diagrams, and real-world examples from navigation, music, and architecture to support diverse learning styles.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
