What We Look For In an ISEE- Middle Level Tutor

  • Ability to explain stanine scoring, percentile rankings, and essay scoring criteria effectively while preparing students for competitive independent school admissions.
• Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving:
  • Skilled at teaching effective vocabulary strategies, quantitative comparison techniques, and comprehensive reading comprehension approaches specifically for the Middle Level ISEE.
  • Guide students through synonym recognition, sentence completion context clues, algebraic equation solving, geometry applications, and structuring a compelling essay prompt response.
  • Emphasize crucial time management skills across all five sections and systematic elimination of incorrect answer choices.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction:
  • Familiarity with ISEE Middle Level content and common student challenges, such as advanced vocabulary requirements, the unique quantitative comparison question format, and the time pressure across extended test sections.
  • Ability to adapt instruction using official ERB practice materials, dedicated vocabulary study programs, and section-specific timed drills to effectively support sixth and seventh-grade students preparing for selective independent school admissions.
• Effective Teaching Methods:
  • Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with and explain material using multiple approaches.
  • Capability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
