This is a freelance remote tutor position with Varsity Tutors, available nationally in approved states (excluding AK, CA, CO, DE, HI, ME, NH, ND, VT, WV, PR). As an Online Geometry Tutor, you will have the flexibility to set your own hours and significantly impact students’ academic success and conceptual understanding. You will achieve this by providing personalized instruction and leveraging AI-powered support, all from the comfort of your home.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Deliver Personalized Instruction: Provide tailored 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students, addressing specific needs across high school geometry curricula, from basic concepts to advanced problem-solving.
• Facilitate Conceptual Understanding: Guide students to master a wide range of geometry topics, including proofs, triangle congruence and similarity, circles, polygons, coordinate geometry, and three-dimensional figures, ensuring deep conceptual comprehension.
• Teach Problem-Solving Strategies: Instruct students on how to approach and solve complex geometry problems, covering geometric proofs, construction problems, angle relationships, trigonometric ratios, and calculations for area, perimeter, volume, and surface area.
• Adapt and Enhance Learning: Utilize dynamic geometry software, hands-on manipulatives, and visual diagrams to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles, helping students transition from concrete to abstract reasoning and prepare for standardized tests.
• Provide Real-Time Support: Leverage AI-Powered Tutor Copilot and address on-demand instant tutoring requests, identifying common student struggles and explaining material using multiple approaches to foster logical reasoning and spatial visualization.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Advanced subject mastery in high school geometry, encompassing deep knowledge of geometric proofs, triangle congruence and similarity, circles, polygons, coordinate geometry, transformations, and three-dimensional figures. This includes the ability to explain key theorems such as Pythagorean, parallel line properties, and circle theorems, alongside proficiency in area, perimeter, volume, and surface area calculations, particularly for standardized test preparation.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching complex geometry concepts, with a proven ability to teach two-column and paragraph proof writing using logical reasoning. This includes guiding students through construction problems, angle relationships, trigonometric ratios, and spatial visualization. Candidates must possess familiarity with high school geometry curricula and common student challenges, such as proof construction, auxiliary line usage, and coordinate plane applications.
• Skills: Proficiency in geometric proof writing and logical reasoning; expertise in guiding students through construction problems and trigonometric ratios; ability to adapt instruction using dynamic geometry software and visual diagrams; excellent communication and an engaging teaching style; adeptness at identifying and addressing common student struggles with varied instructional approaches.
