What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide Personalized Instruction: Deliver 1-on-1 online tutoring sessions to individual college students.
• Address Immediate Needs: Accept on-demand tutoring requests through Instant Tutoring whenever available.
• Leverage AI Support: Utilize the AI-powered Tutor Copilot for real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to enhance sessions.
• Handle Session Logistics: Invoice for tutoring sessions conducted, with Varsity Tutors managing all payment logistics.
• Adapt Teaching Methods: Identify concepts students commonly struggle with and explain material using multiple approaches tailored to individual learning needs and styles.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of college-level algebra, functions and graphs, trigonometric concepts, introductory statistics, finite mathematics, linear programming, mathematical modeling, quantitative reasoning, set theory, logic, and probability.
• Experience: Proven ability to break down complex topics such as function analysis, statistical inference basics, and mathematical modeling problems, guiding students through data interpretation and logical arguments. Familiarity with college math curricula, including liberal arts math and quantitative reasoning courses, and understanding common challenges like function notation and interpreting statistical graphs.
• Skills: Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style, with the capability to adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and student needs.
• Bonus: Ability to prepare students to meet general education mathematics requirements and apply math in diverse academic disciplines, emphasizing quantitative literacy and critical thinking over procedural memorization. Capability to adapt instruction using real-world contexts, technology tools, and scaffolded problem sets to support adult learners with varying mathematical backgrounds.
