The Tone:
This is a PRN internship at SGMC Health, located in Valdosta, GA. SGMC Health is a healthcare provider dedicated to improving community well-being through purpose, excellence, and teamwork. This role provides an opportunity for future Registered Nurses to gain practical experience, develop essential skills, and contribute to patient care as a temporary member of the healthcare team. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Temporary (PRN – varied hours and shifts)
• Location: Valdosta, GA (In-person)

• Team: NURSING INTERNSHIP Department (under the supervision of an RN)
• Mission: To provide patient care and develop essential skills for future Registered Nurses, promoting quality patient care and supporting the medical center’s values.
• Tech Stack: Office equipment, computer terminals and keyboards, computerized lab equipment

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Care: Function as a temporary member of the health care team providing patient care.
• Skill Development: Utilize this temporary position to learn and develop skills essential for a future Registered Nurse.
• Quality Promotion: Promote the delivery of quality patient care through the implementation of the nursing process for all age groups.
• Advocacy: Function as a patient advocate, seeking to improve services and performing duties in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Values Adherence: Maintain an atmosphere that consistently supports and enforces South Georgia Medical Center’s values, goals, policies, and procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school graduate or GED equivalent; completion of junior year of an approved RN School of Nursing is required.
• Experience: Current CPR certification.
• Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients/families and staff members; ability to work well both individually and as a team member; ability to adapt to new situations, set priorities, and use problem-solving techniques positively; ability to read and interpret policies and standards of care related to patient care issues; ability to function under the supervision of an RN and in collaboration with other discipline’s team members; ability to communicate clearly with, and care for a diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, cultures, and/or persons occasionally exhibiting stressed behavior.
