Job Title: Nonprofit Internship – Empowering Future Female Leaders

This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven environment, working alongside dedicated staff and volunteers to support Girl Scout Troops, facilitate engaging programs, and strengthen community ties.

What You Can Expect:

  • Contribute directly to the mission of building courageous, confident, and character-driven female leaders.
  • Provide essential support to Girl Scout Troops and dedicated volunteers, ensuring they have the resources needed for success.
  • Gain hands-on experience in program and event logistics, from material preparation to distribution.
  • Collaborate within a supportive team environment, engaging with Girl Scout Members, volunteers, and external vendors.
  • Develop skills in community outreach and needs assessment, helping to identify and implement practical solutions.
  • Immerse yourself in a vibrant organizational culture, participating in staff engagement activities, team meetings, and milestone celebrations curated by our “Ambassador of Fun!”

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program and Material Management: Assist in the preparation, organization, and distribution of critical materials including patches, recruitment packets, booth supplies, and program-specific resources for events and facilitator-led troop meetings.
  • Recruitment and Outreach Support: Help in the creation and organization of engaging materials for recruitment booths and various community events designed to attract new members.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal team members, Girl Scout Members, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution of projects and initiatives.
  • Community Impact: Support efforts to identify specific community needs and contribute to brainstorming practical and effective ideas to address them through Girl Scout programming and initiatives.
  • Organizational Participation: Actively participate in staff engagement activities, including “Team on the Move” meetings, and celebrate organizational milestones.
  • General Support: Perform other administrative and project-based duties as assigned to support the overall operational needs of the council.

This internship provides a unique chance to gain exposure to various facets of a thriving nonprofit organization, offering potential project involvement and skill development in areas such as:

  • Marketing & Communication: Learn about digital media strategies, graphic design principles, and effective media communications.
  • Advancement (Fundraising): Understand philanthropy, event planning logistics, administrative support for development, and donor relations.
  • Girl Experience: Contribute to event planning, manage vendor contacts, apply youth development knowledge, and assist in program facilitation.
  • Troop Support: Develop customer relations skills and assist with the preparation and distribution of badges and program boxes.
  • Product Sales: Aid in booster box preparation and distribution, gain experience with Salesforce CRM, and provide critical troop resource support.
  • Membership: Support troop activities, contribute to recruitment efforts, and assist in identifying outreach opportunities.
  • Member Care & Volunteer Training: Enhance customer service skills, provide phone support, and gain experience with virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled FAU Junior or Senior.
  • Must be actively participating in the Government and Nonprofit internship program at FAU.
  • Ability to commute reliably to the Lake Worth Headquarters and various event sites as required.
  • Completion of the Internship application on the GSSEF Career site.
