Role Overview

SharkNinja is seeking a highly motivated Noise and Vibrations Co-Op to contribute to creating a new generation of innovative products across the Shark & Ninja ranges. This role involves supporting product teams in evaluating and analyzing noise and vibration issues in new products, as well as designing and offering solutions to achieve 5-star quality sound. We are looking for a strong noise and vibrations engineer co-op with a passion for sound quality and an eagerness to make meaningful impacts on people’s lives.

Work Period, Location & Schedule

  • Work Period: July 2026 to December 2026
  • Location: Needham, MA (5 days per week onsite)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40-hour-per-week position
  • Relocation/Housing: No relocation or housing assistance is provided for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in acoustic and vibrational testing of a wide variety of consumer products.
  • Analyze acoustic and vibration frequency spectra to identify and localize noise sources.
  • Work within multi-disciplinary product development teams to create meaningful sound power and sound quality improvements.
  • Integrate with other engineering and product development teams to help review designs and offer insights into noise performance.
  • Design, implement, build prototypes, and test solutions to various noise and vibration issues.
  • Work within the R&D team to lead the research of novel noise reduction and control techniques.
  • Be naturally curious and relentlessly driven to find better solutions to everyday problems.

Key Attributes & Skills

  • Education: Current student in their third year or beyond of a bachelor’s program, or currently enrolled in a master’s program, undertaking a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, or similar.
  • Work Availability: Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of mechanical engineering, basic physical acoustics, psychoacoustics, and noise control principles.
    • Understanding of vibrating systems and how modifications of different parameters affect the resulting response.
  • Communication: A natural and effective communicator capable of reducing abstract concepts to reality, and able to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues clearly, effectively, and concisely.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and a relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution. Intellectual curiosity and creativity, strong first principles thinking, a positive can-do attitude, and a proven ability to deliver robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Hands-on Experience:
    • Willingness to roll up sleeves and dive into hands-on development and testing workstreams.
    • Exposure to a CAD program (ideally SolidWorks or Creo) and 3D printing/laser cutting.
    • Experience with hands-on prototype development in plastic and metal, including using basic machine shop tools.
    • Familiarity with electronics (analog/digital), test equipment (microphones, accelerometers), and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.).
    • “Hands-on” building of prototypes, experimental testing of some sort, either in the workshop or in a science context.
  • Work Style: Comfortable multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term projects. Can identify, solve, implement and verify technical solutions autonomously and as part of a team.

Salary and Other Compensation

  • Hourly Pay Range: $30—$34 USD
