Job Description

About the International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization dedicated to responding to the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC helps people devastated by conflict and disaster to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power. As one of the world’s largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), the IRC operates in over 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities, helping millions to survive, reclaim control of their future, and strengthen their communities.

Domestically, the IRC’s 26 offices across the U.S. provide emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. This includes ensuring new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and working with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

New Roots is a specific program of the IRC that connects refugees with community gardens and farm sites, enabling them to feed themselves and their communities through market and wholesale opportunities.
