Program Overview:
This one-year-long residency includes a robust curriculum aimed at enhancing your skills and confidence:

- Skills labs
- Forums for discussion and learning

- Monthly educational forums
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
As a New Graduate RN in this program, you will be integral to patient care, performing a variety of essential functions:
- Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists, and adjust care processes to ensure safety.
- Write or obtain initial nursing histories, assess patient conditions, and develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain thorough patient documentation in electronic records.
- Receive and review shift reports, conduct rounds on assigned patients, and perform assessments according to TMCH standards.
- Notify appropriate physicians regarding unusual or unexpected events requiring medical consultation.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary patient care team to implement and reinforce patient instructional needs with patients and families, providing informational material and addressing specific concerns.
- Evaluate patient care outcomes, consult with specialists as needed, and adjust nursing processes for optimal patient care.
- Identify and resolve workplace health and safety issues.
- Administer direct patient care utilizing appropriate aseptic techniques.
- Manage IV lines, ensure adherence to sterile techniques, and oversee patient movement and positioning for clinical safety.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, taking corrective action for violations.
- Orient, instruct, and educate assigned personnel.
- Adhere to and support team members in exhibiting TMCH values: integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
- Adhere to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- EXPERIENCE: No experience required. Candidates should have no more than nine months of paid RN work experience.
- LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:
- Current RN licensure permitting work in the State of Arizona is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Additional certification may be required per department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Successful candidates will possess or develop the following critical competencies:
- Knowledge of direct patient care, critical care procedures, techniques, tools, and responses to ensure optimal patient care.
- Understanding of exam indicators, contraindications, and patient preparation.
- Skill in communicating clearly and concisely with critical care staff and physicians to ensure proper patient care.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables (including CPR protocols).
