NEW GRADUATE ENGINEER, SOFTWARE (STARLINK) | SpaceX

The Tone:
This is an early career position at SpaceX. SpaceX builds rockets and spacecraft to enable humanity’s exploration of space. This role specifically focuses on Starlink, the company’s advanced broadband internet system, providing fast and reliable internet globally. As a software engineer, you will contribute to solving the complex challenges that underpin Starlink’s growth and impact millions worldwide.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Software Development: Develop highly reliable, real-time software that underpins the Starlink program, from networking technologies to embedded systems and user platforms.
• Design & Review: Participate in and lead architecture, design, and code reviews to ensure the quality and performance of software systems.
• Prototyping & Experimentation: Develop prototypes and manage experiments to validate key design concepts and innovative solutions.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers across various disciplines to plan and organize the comprehensive development of Starlink products.
• System Lifecycle Management: Engage in the complete lifecycle of software creation, including development, testing, and support, ensuring real-world performance directly impacts the world.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another STEM discipline, with a graduation date in spring, summer, or fall of 2026.
• Experience: Professional development experience in C, C++, Python, C# or another object-oriented language, which includes applicable internship experience.
• Skills: Creative approach to problem-solving, exceptional analytical skills, strong engineering fundamentals, and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to work effectively in environments with changing needs and requirements.
• Citizenship: Must meet U.S. Government export regulations (U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee, or Asylee, or eligible for required authorizations).
• Bonus: Strong professional or project experience writing software for production environments, including developing, debugging, and deploying software used in real-world applications. Familiarity with networking protocols such as UDP and TCP/IP, distributed systems, and security issues related to these systems and internet services.
