Lead, Network Planning Engineer | L3Harris Technologies

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at L3Harris Technologies, located in Melbourne, Australia. L3Harris is a defense technology company that builds and delivers end-to-end technology solutions across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains for national security. This position is a critical leadership role in the planning, implementation, and transition of a large network for an Australia-based Managed Services program. This initiative will significantly impact Australia’s air traffic management and for the flying public.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Provide leadership across the Network Engineering, Design Office, and Implementation teams for enterprise network services and infrastructure delivery.
• Develop: Create implementation strategies, technical direction, and engineering solutions to support the deployment and transition of services from existing to new operational network environments.
• Execute: Lead the development and execution of implementation, migration, and transition plans for network capabilities.
• Coordinate: Manage engineering, design, and implementation activities across geographically dispersed customer locations, ensuring solutions meet program requirements.
• Partner: Collaborate with program, operational, and engineering stakeholders to ensure performance requirements are met, and effectively communicate progress, risks, and constraints.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. Lead/management level professional with core domain knowledge in complex enterprise networks and the telecommunications industry.
• Experience: 8+ years analyzing, configuring, troubleshooting, and designing complex enterprise networks; 4+ years as an engineer on large electronic systems integration projects; 4+ years domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry including carrier services and Cisco network infrastructure; 4+ years with customer requirements, design, and test/acceptance reviews.
• Skills: Strong understanding of WAN architectures (MPLS with Segment Routing and SD-WAN, VXLAN & MPN methods), Routers (Cisco ISRs, F5, Juniper CPT, Cisco NCSs), Firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto), signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, ATM, IS-IS, BGP, OSPF, VoIP, DWDM, CTI, VPN technologies, and enterprise IPv4/emerging IPv6 deployments.
• Bonus: Master’s degree, CCNA/CCNP certification or equivalent, experience working on Defence or mission-critical capabilities, experience with part or full systems engineering lifecycle, experience with Security and Safety programs, experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment, engineering drawing tools (AutoCAD, Visio), Voice Communications Systems (Radios, Telephony), programming/coding, electronics projects, ICT skills, hardware development, project management.
