This is a Nestlé Quality Assurance Center (NQAC) Chemistry Technician Intern position, located at NQAC Dublin, OH. This internship is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Position Summary:
The Chemistry Technician Intern plays a key supportive role within NQAC Dublin. Under minimum supervision, the intern is responsible for performing and documenting routine tasks related to sample processing and assays. This involves following written operating procedures, standard laboratory methods, and utilizing basic laboratory techniques, functions, and equipment. The intern will conduct specific procedures and tests requiring applied knowledge and practical skills gained on the job. As experience grows, they may adapt techniques for special needs or problems and assist with specialized and non-routine tests and assays. The overarching goal is to provide quality results in a timely fashion, supporting NQAC Dublin’s mission to ensure Nestlé products are safe, meet regulatory requirements, and satisfy customer and consumer quality expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

The intern will primarily provide support to the laboratory department, accounting for 95-100% of their duties.

Sample Processing and Analysis:
• Register and prepare samples for general analytical testing, including data entry, precise weighing, and physical homogenization.
• Prepare samples and perform routine to more complex analyses following NQAC methods.
• Accurately read and record results of analyses, meticulously ensuring sample identification numbers are correctly matched.
• Operate basic laboratory equipment such as balances, pH meters, and other instruments as required.
Quality Assurance and Support:
• Provide assurance of quality and support quality processes for the laboratory/center.
• Assist in the establishment and maintenance of Quality Assurance documents, plans, and Internal Control Plans.
• Document Quality Assurance data and report findings to the lead or management.
• Ensure equipment is maintained in reliable working order, performing repairs or modifications within their capability or requesting professional repairs when necessary.
Processes/Methods Improvement:
• Participate in or lead Lean Laboratory initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing waste.
• Assist in the review, improvement, and documentation of laboratory processes or methods as their experience develops.
Training:
• Attend internal and external training programs as assigned to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements and Minimum Education Level:

Academic Background:
• Relevant academic coursework or 1 year of practical relevant experience in an analytical laboratory is highly preferred.
• Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Food Science majors are preferred.
• Candidates who are rising juniors or seniors are preferred.
Skills:
Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Language Skills: Basic English language skills (reading, writing, speaking).
Professionalism: Demonstrated professional conduct and demeanor.
Technical Aptitude: Ability to perform trained tasks accurately and strictly follow lab Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Teamwork: Contributes positively to a team environment and builds effective working relationships.
Learning Agility: Ability to learn new tasks within an expected timeframe.
