Mid-Engineering Technician | Serco Inc.
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Serco Inc., offering the flexibility to live anywhere in the United States and involving extensive international travel. Serco supports the DoD and US Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) by performing IT systems modernization and maintaining Electronic Security Systems (ESS) at military installations globally. This critical work involves upgrading vital infrastructure, and as a Mid-Engineering Technician, you will be an integral part of a recognized team delivering high-quality, secure systems. Your contributions will directly impact the security and operational capabilities of U.S. Army and Navy facilities worldwide.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Deliver high-quality IT modernization and security systems for DoD and Navy facilities worldwide.
• Tech Stack: IT systems, server equipment racks, IP-based video surveillance cameras, desktop computing systems, comprehensive cabling (CAT 6, T568B), rack-mounted equipment, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Access Control Systems (ACS), Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV), video Briefing Display Systems (BDS), Digital Multi-meter, power meters, Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Outlook), low voltage control systems, power supplies, wall transformers, circuit breakers.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Equipment Assembly & Repair: Follow specific instructions to assemble or construct simple or standard equipment or parts, and service or repair simple instruments or equipment.
• Testing & Data Collection: Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and identifying deviations.
• Engineering Data Management: Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data, perform computations, plot data, and verify that test data meets acceptance criteria.
• Cabling & Installation: Perform the installation of CAT 6 cabling and terminate CAT 6 using the T568B color code standard, in addition to unpacking and repacking equipment for testing and shipment.
• Data Processing & Presentation: Extract engineering data from prescribed sources, process it using well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and present the data in a prescribed format.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-Career, requiring a High School Diploma/GED, U.S. Citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, CAC, and access to all military installations.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of related experience; must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time (up to 4 months at a time) internationally, obtain a valid U.S. Passport within 30 days of employment, and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Skills: Ability to work independently, meet schedules, fulfill duty requirements, organize and coordinate multiple tasks, strong verbal and written communication, and familiarity with typical hand and power tools.
• Bonus: An active DoD Secret security clearance, a current U.S. passport, general or advanced troubleshooting experience, familiarity with specific testing equipment (Digital Multi-meter, power meters), knowledge of hardware mounting and cable termination (including RJ45), basic understanding of Microsoft software, and general knowledge of IDS, ACS, CCTV, and Audio Video installation.
