Their programs involve internships and volunteer opportunities in developing countries, providing essential medical services to individuals in extreme poverty.

Job Description:

This is an unpaid study abroad medical internship located in the Dominican Republic. It’s designed to bring basic healthcare to severely impoverished rural communities where families live on less than $5 per day. These communities often lack access to running water, electricity, and adequate healthcare. Interns will assist licensed medical practitioners and receive necessary training to provide basic medical services. The internship is 8 weeks long:

7 weeks online/remote: This portion involves education, training, and planning for the in-country experience.
1 week (8 days) in the Dominican Republic:
• Spend 5 days assisting licensed medical practitioners with assessment, screening, triage, pharmacy, and providing basic treatments in temporary medical clinics in rural areas.
• Spend one day with the community providing community education on basic health and hygiene.

Important Notes:

This is an unpaid internship.
Travel to the Dominican Republic is required and is not covered by the organization.
• The program is offered during specific weeks, you are responsible for your travel to the Dominican Republic during those weeks.
No prior medical experience is necessary. Training is provided.
