Job Description: Mechanical/HVAC Engineering Internship
This internship is located at Tighe & Bond’s Westfield, MA headquarters and will be in a hybrid work environment. The Building Services Team and Projects department focuses on building design and inspection for new facilities, additions, and renovations. This includes evaluating and designing all building structural systems (roof decks, beams, girders, columns, masonry bearing walls, below-grade concrete walls, and structural slabs). They also design equipment support structures, tanks, containment structures, and vehicular and pedestrian bridges.
Responsibilities:
The intern will work on various mechanical and HVAC engineering tasks under the supervision of senior engineers. Specific tasks include:
• Developing design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Performing HVAC load and sizing calculations.
• Reviewing contractor construction submittals for compliance with project specifications.
• Assisting with field investigations to document the condition of existing HVAC systems.
Requirements:
• Currently enrolled in a BS in Mechanical Engineering program with at least two years of completed coursework.
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, problem-solving skills, flexibility, positive attitude, and open-mindedness.
• Experience using design software (helpful, but not required).

Interns work on real assignments across multiple disciplines, relating directly to their coursework. They are paired with a “buddy” and a supervisor for guidance. The internship program is a significant source for entry-level full-time positions.
Compensation:
The hourly rate is $19-$26, determined by years of completed education.
