Job Description: Mechanical Engineering Intern (Energy & Power)
Jacobs is seeking Mechanical Engineering Interns to join their Energy & Power team at various locations across the US (Austin, TX; Boise, ID; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Fort Worth, TX; Gainesville, FL). Interns will apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world challenges within the energy sector, which is experiencing significant transformation towards greater reliability and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
• Support engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications for energy and power projects.
• Engage with clients to evaluate their energy needs and develop concept-level plans and solutions.
• Perform piping and equipment sizing, stress analysis, flow modeling, energy analysis, and life cycle cost evaluations.
• Conduct detailed engineering calculations.
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned work, progressing from basic to more complex projects within a technical team.
• Work under the mentorship of Professional Engineers.
• Contribute to Jacobs’ “end-to-end” lifecycle services, from exploration and development to operation and eventual repowering/retirement.
Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree program.
• Highly regarded: Prior design or consulting internships.
• Ideally, familiarity/experience with:
• 3D modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx, NavisWorks)
• Hydraulic modeling software (Pipe-Flo, Pipe 2000)
• Systems modeling software (Thermoflow, Aspen/Hysys)
