Job Description:

CMTA Energy Solutions is offering a co-op position for Mechanical Engineering students in Louisville, KY, starting August 2025 and lasting through the Fall 2025 semester, with the hope of multiple co-op rotations. This role provides an immersive experience in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). Co-ops will develop practical skills in a hands-on setting, collaborating with full-time engineers under the supervision of Professional Engineers. The program is designed to cultivate students into potential full-time employees who contribute to the company’s growth.

Co-ops will be involved in various stages of ESPC development, from initial development to implementation, gaining experience in identifying and calculating energy savings measures, developing renovation documents, and participating in hands-on field work. Mechanical co-ops can expect to gain hands-on experience with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems like geothermal, and building automation systems. By the end of the program co-ops will have gained the experience to get a head start in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry.

Job Functions (may include but are not limited to):

• Assist in all aspects of the project development phase – including site visits, building audits, energy calculations
• Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate feasibility of energy savings measures identified
• Produce detailed construction documents using CAD
• Assemble organized sets of project drawings and documents
• Collect and analyze energy data, often times involving field verification
• Work collaboratively with designers and professional engineers to develop all aspects of a project

Requirements:

• Pursuing a BSME, preferably a sophomore (2nd year), or junior (3rd year)
• CAD experience is helpful but not required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Ability to travel locally for field work
• Minimum GPA 3.39
