Mechanical Engineer Intern Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer Intern will play a crucial role in assisting the new product development team. This position provides valuable project support and feedback to ensure deadlines are met, offering students practical engineering experience within a collaborative team environment that directly applies to their coursework.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D prints and perform post-processing for review by the new product development team.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and submit products for testing in the test lab.
- Develop or modify basic models and prints.
- Design and construct prototypes and test fixtures, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Conduct product testing in the Engineering test lab and accurately report results.
- Analyze engineering test lab results and formulate data-driven recommendations.
- Partner with the manufacturing team to suggest improvements for the manufacturing process.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the nature and level of the work.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must currently be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program to be considered.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of computers and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Professionalism: Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment, excellent follow-up skills, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
Physical Demand Requirements
The employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
