Mechanical Designer I – Entry-Level

As a Mechanical Designer I, you will embark on an entry-level journey within our engineering team, focusing on the critical task of developing and managing detailed parametric solid models, assemblies, and technical drawings. This role is specifically geared towards supporting the design and documentation of broadcast antennas and various RF components. Working under the close guidance and supervision of experienced senior engineering staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our part documentation and providing essential support for a wide range of design-related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Documentation Support: Assist in the creation of detailed parametric solid models, complex assemblies, and precise technical drawings, always under the direct supervision of senior engineering personnel.
  • Data Management: Generate new part numbers and meticulously maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) utilizing the Oracle MRP software system.
  • Production Release: Provide crucial support to the Engineering Department in the drafting, review, and official release of production-ready drawings.
  • Technical Documentation: Contribute to the creation and ongoing maintenance of comprehensive PDF documentation, intended for both internal team use and external stakeholder distribution.
  • CAD File Organization: Systematically organize and maintain all CAD files, ensuring easy access and version control through the designated PDM (Product Data Management) software.
  • Project Workflow Tracking: Update and track project workflow statuses diligently within the JIRA project management software.
  • Change Management: Assist in the processing and implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), ensuring all design modifications are accurately documented and applied.
  • Ad-Hoc Design Tasks: Undertake other design-related assignments as directed by the supervisory team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Precision & Accuracy: Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail is paramount for success in this role.
  • 3D CAD Proficiency: Must possess at least intermediate-level proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a strong preference for experience with Solid Edge.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and sheet metal techniques.
  • Technical Drawing Expertise: Solid knowledge of dimensioning and tolerancing principles as applied in technical drawings.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to effectively take direction and integrate feedback from a diverse group of engineers and senior designers.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the capability to work semi-independently on multiple ongoing projects.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, while maintaining flexibility and adapting to changing project requirements.
  • Design Environment Experience: Prior experience working within a design engineering environment.
  • Software Familiarity: Familiarity with Project Management Software (e.g., JIRA) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Office Productivity: Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other standard MS Office suite programs.
  • Industry Insight (A Plus): Knowledge of antenna and RF system design would be a significant advantage.
