Marketing Intern | San Antonio Museum of Art

The Tone:
This is a part-time, unpaid internship opportunity at the San Antonio Museum of Art, located in San Antonio, TX. The Museum’s core mission is to bring people together with art through the collection, preservation, and presentation of over 30,000 significant works of art from diverse cultures globally, including the Ancient Mediterranean, Asia, Latin America, the United States, and a growing Modern & Contemporary collection. This role offers a unique perspective on the Marketing department’s day-to-day and long-term responsibilities, contributing to the Museum’s goal of advancing human connection and understanding. As an essential part of SAMA, interns gain valuable creative and administrative experience relevant to future course study and careers in non-profit arts and administration.

• Team: Marketing Department, reporting to the Chief Engagement Officer
• Mission: Support the Museum’s Marketing department by executing projects that promote SAMA’s exhibitions and programs to new and existing audiences.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct research on current and upcoming special exhibitions, as well as artworks and artists within SAMA’s permanent collection.
• Content Creation: Draft compelling social media content to engage diverse audiences with SAMA’s collection and exhibitions.
• Video Production: Create a series of short-form videos specifically tailored for the Museum’s digital platforms.
• Strategic Promotion: Contribute innovative ideas to effectively promote SAMA’s exhibitions and programs to new and existing audiences.
• Public Relations: Draft press releases for a variety of upcoming Museum events.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled college or university student requiring course credit for an internship, with a preferred demonstrated interest in the visual arts or cultural institutions.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is required.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong work ethic with proven ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects. Capable of working independently, highly organized, and self-motivated in a flexible environment. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and is comfortable working collaboratively within a team.
• Bonus: Experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or Premiere Pro, or a personal interest in photography and/or videography.
