Market Intelligence Manager | Tyree & D’Angelo Partners
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Tyree & D’Angelo Partners, located in the Greater Chicago Area. TDP is a private equity investment firm that focuses on making control investments in the lower middle market, specifically targeting companies with $1-5M of EBITDA. The firm’s strategy revolves around building high-growth, lower-risk companies through a tested buy & build investment approach and true partnerships with executives and business owners. This role is crucial for leading the end-to-end research process, identifying high-quality founder-owned businesses, and generating the market intelligence necessary to fuel the firm’s investment thesis-driven process and substantial value creation. Your contributions will directly support the growth of companies within the healthcare, consumer, and business services sectors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Lead the comprehensive end-to-end research process, which includes target identification, meticulous company screening, ownership verification, and gathering in-depth market intelligence.
• Collaborate: Collaborate closely with both the investment and business development teams to thoroughly understand specific acquisition criteria, target industries, key geographies, and desired company sizes for potential investments.
• Build: Build and manage a dedicated team of analysts, establishing robust research methodologies, comprehensive quality assurance frameworks, and a consistent reporting cadence for reliable output.
• Create: Create detailed dashboards and metrics designed to effectively measure the research output, assess data quality, track conversion rates to the investment pipeline, and monitor overall team productivity.
• Develop: Develop and actively maintain a proprietary pipeline of target companies, meticulously collecting and validating ownership and contact information, and enriching profiles with valuable contextual notes like market signals and competitive positioning.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, market research, or a closely related field, providing a foundational understanding for managing market intelligence and research functions effectively.
• Experience: Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in market intelligence, competitive research, business development research, corporate development sourcing, or investment research. This includes demonstrated ability to build target pipelines, gather accurate owner information, perform comprehensive primary/secondary research, and deliver actionable insights.
• Skills: Exhibit strong business acumen, allowing you to understand complex business models, key metrics, owner incentives, and market dynamics. Demonstrate excellent analytical, data-synthesis, and presentation skills to distill complex data into clear, concise insights for stakeholders. Be proficient with research databases, CRM/target-tracking tools, MS Excel, and LinkedIn/contact-research tools.
• Bonus: Preferred qualifications include demonstrated leadership and project management expertise, ideally with prior experience managing a small team or leading impactful cross-functional collaboration efforts.
