Job Summary: Manufacturing Engineering Intern
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will provide crucial support to our manufacturing and operations teams. This role focuses on driving process improvement initiatives, enhancing assembly operations, and meticulously managing manufacturing documentation. This internship offers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in optimizing production processes and maintaining critical manufacturing records within a dynamic defense technology environment.
This internship will be based in American Rheinmetall’s Auburn Hills, MI office and may require occasional support at our Plymouth, MI office.
Essential Functions:
- Support process improvement initiatives and optimize assembly operations.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve vital manufacturing documentation, including detailed work instructions and accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Assist in coordinating complex cross-departmental projects and facilitate the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
- Analyze comprehensive production data to identify trends and provide actionable insights aimed at enhancing overall efficiency and safety.
- Collaborate closely with various engineering teams to implement industry best practices in production and process development.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibility is required for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
- A genuine willingness to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
Education & Experience:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university, coupled with one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Background Prerequisites:
Candidates must successfully undergo and meet company standards for a comprehensive background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical examination, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with researching various topics and gathering information.
- Previous employment history with a strong focus on team-work and collaborative environments.
