Managing Director, Investment Banking // Technology Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) | Portage Point Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Portage Point Partners, with locations available in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Palm Beach, or Philadelphia. This Managing Director role is critical for driving business development and client delivery, significantly impacting the firm’s rapidly expanding platform and further establishing the M&A practice.

• Pay: $1200000–$3000000 yearly
• Team: Reports directly to the IB Practice Line Leader
• Mission: Further establish the M&A practice by developing new and existing client relationships and leading complex engagements to deliver high-quality, impactful outcomes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Execution Leadership: Lead the execution of all deliverable workflows necessary to consummate transactions for middle market companies undergoing growth, transformation, and transition.
• Business Development: Sell engagements across a network of senior executives, private equity firms, entrepreneurs, lenders, and lawyers, and lead client relationship efforts.
• Financial Analysis & Deliverables: Review and analyze client financial statements and projections, perform financial modeling, conduct accounting and due diligence on balance sheet and P&Ls, and create and present client deliverables.
• Transaction Management: Negotiate, document, and assist in all aspects of transaction execution.
• Firm Building: Lead internal trainings, best practice sharing, support talent acquisition, and contribute to firm-building initiatives while fostering a high-performing culture.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program with a focus on investment banking and technology mergers & acquisitions in the middle market.
• Experience: 15 plus years of middle market investment banking experience, including work with privately held and sponsor-backed businesses.
• Skills:
• FINRA Licenses: Maintains Series 79, 63, and 24 FINRA licenses or has the ability to obtain them within 120 days of employment.
• Market Expertise: Commanding knowledge of current market terms and trends.
• Client Engagement: Expertise in project management and client-facing activities, including leading client presentations, business development meetings, developing work plans, and supervising teams.
• Business Development: Demonstrated ability to develop new business across a network of corporate relationships, private equity sponsors, lawyers, and/or lenders.
• Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready presentation and reporting skills.
