The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Tractor Supply Company, involving in-person work across various store locations and requiring travel. The Manager Trainee will cultivate the skills necessary to drive sales, manage inventory and profit, control expenses, and reduce shrink. What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Development & Inclusion: Learn to recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members, while creating and fostering a welcoming and inclusive store environment that mirrors the communities served.
• Legendary Customer Service: Master the GURA framework (Greet, Uncover Needs, Recommend Solutions, Ask to Add Value & Appreciate) to deliver a consistent and differentiating Legendary Customer shopping experience.
• Store Operations & Profit Management: Train on sales and profit management, becoming accountable for achieving top and bottom line results. This includes scheduling daily activities, managing merchandise flow for adequate in-stock levels, and implementing merchandise presentations to company standards.
• Administrative & Inventory Control: Develop proficiency in processing daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork such as invoices, schedules, and product orders. Learn to manage periodic price changes, communicate inventory needs to buyers, and collaborate with distribution centers to resolve inventory problems.
• Strategic Engagement & Problem Solving: Participate in special sales events and community involvement. Learn to evaluate the competitive environment, address team member issues in coordination with HR, and support operational needs across the district.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma. Preferred domain knowledge includes retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine care, or welding.
• Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. Supervisory experience is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Skills: Ability to process information and merchandise through system and POS Register, read/write/count accurately, operate all necessary store equipment (e.g., dolly, forklift), move merchandise up to 50 lbs, and work a minimum of 52 hours per week including varied shifts, nights, weekends, and peak seasons.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree in an Agricultural-Science or Business related field.
