Manager of Equity & Fixed Income Research | Baird
The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at Baird, likely located in Milwaukee, WI, for an experienced investment professional. Baird is a financial services firm with a Private Wealth Management division, consulting on over $125 billion in individual stocks. This role is crucial for leading equity research and portfolio management efforts, overseeing fixed income activities, and providing direct investment guidance and support to the firm’s Financial Advisors.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Portfolio Leadership: Play a lead role in the portfolio management of two PWM equity portfolios, including security selection, monitoring, and positioning.
• Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop Associate through Senior Analyst-level talent, providing day-to-day direction, feedback, and mentorship.
• Research Execution: Drive equity research execution, with an emphasis on bottom-up stock selection, and contribute to portfolio decision-making.
• Advisor Engagement: Actively engage with Baird Financial Advisors through calls, presentations, written insights, and branch interactions to deliver research insights, portfolio guidance, and market perspective.
• Portfolio Oversight: Oversee two additional PWM Home Office Portfolios with nearly $2B in client assets and own the quality, accuracy, and integrity of research output and portfolio positioning.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related field, focusing on equity and fixed income research and portfolio management.
• Experience: 10+ years of investment experience, with a strong equity research and portfolio management background, including direct security selection experience.
• Skills: Strong investment judgment, analytical rigor, high attention to detail, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex investment views for advisors.
• Bonus: MBA or advanced degree; CFA designation strongly preferred; experience mentoring or developing junior talent; formal people management experience; SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses (or ability to obtain within six months).
