Position Details

  • Position Title: Maintenance New Hire
  • Pay Rate: $30.30/hr
  • Sign-On Bonus:
    • $1000 after 30 days
    • $500 after 6 months
    • $500 after 1 year
  • Retention Bonus:
    • $500 after 1 year
    • Additional lump sum after 2 years
  • Category/Shift: 3rd shifts available, OT/weekends as needed

The Job You Will Perform

As a Maintenance New Hire, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the upkeep and functionality of plant equipment. This is a critical role ensuring operational efficiency and safety.

  • Diagnose, repair, replace, and install plant mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment.
  • Perform machinery maintenance, lubrication, preventative maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
  • Execute lubrication and preventative maintenance on various equipment, including corrugator, diecut, folder, conveyors, stackers, and banders.
  • Read and understand mechanical prints, AC/DC motors, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install mechanical components, AC/DC motors, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, and power transmission systems.
  • Perform fabrication of equipment using both arc and gas welding techniques to meet desired needs.
  • Make adjustments on equipment to enhance productivity and performance.
  • Identify and locate unusual sounds that may indicate potential equipment trouble.
  • Dismantle equipment to access and replace defective parts efficiently.
  • Engage in predictive maintenance data collection and PM planning.

The Skills You Will Bring

We are looking for dedicated individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety.

  • Working knowledge of various types of measurement equipment (e.g., dial calipers, heat sensing guns).
  • Ability to examine parts, determine the degree of wear, and perform necessary repairs or replacements safely.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools for removing, replacing, and repairing parts in a safe manner.
  • Ability to operate all types of hand tools typically found in a Maintenance shop (e.g., drill press, grinder, wire brush, acetylene torch).
  • Possess an excellent attendance and safety record with a demonstrated ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work additional and flexible hours, including weekends, as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts depending on company business needs.
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Dedicated, self-motivated, and a self-starter, capable of working independently.
  • Flexibility, a positive attitude, and a strong commitment to working safely.
  • Computer skills to navigate SAP for acquiring notifications, work orders, requisitioning parts, and entering time against work orders.
  • Commitment to attending all meetings, completing required training, and maintaining a safety-conscious attitude to promote a safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must pass the Maintenance AON test and an interview.
  • Requires the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Requires the ability to work additional and flexible hours, including weekends, as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts depending on company business needs.
  • Must have your own set of tools.
  • Successful candidate must pass standardized International Paper pre-employment testing in place for Maintenance positions.
